Following a tragic event, self-made millionaire Killian takes a vow of silence disrupted by the twelve-year-old Zoe who forces her way into his silent world and is struggling to find her own voice in a world dominated by her mother's fame. ‘Louder’ delves into human emotions juxtaposed to the requirements of the world, emotionally detached people and how our inner voices are suppressed because of the artificial facades created by mankind.

A pathbreaker for myriad reasons, ‘Louder’ takes pride in the fact that it is a non-funded movie and a fruit of labour of six highly passionate crew members. The cast features a motley mix of highly talented individuals from twenty-nine diverse nationalities, rarely seen in a movie. The movie has been shot extensively in elite locations facilitated by sponsors like Anantara Sir Baniyas Island in Abu Dhabi and in Dubai locations like Ellington Properties, BOA Night Club, Sacoor Brothers, La Boheme and Trianon restaurants, Body Language at Al Barari and Madinat Theatre.
When asked about the inspiration behind this movie, Director Jacques Brown reckons that Louder is based on his own story. “When I first started writing the script I was single and didn't have many friends. I would spend days alone, hardly speaking to anybody. I also felt that a lot of people live their lives without voicing their feelings, with their inner voice trapped by the rules governed by social media and the way people perceive each other. This was the basis of creating Killian's character. I thought it would be interesting to create Zoe's character that is completely in contrast to Killian and the world he lives in and then to force the two characters into a situation neither of them could escape but both need to be in. It's an interesting story about a man who has taken a vow of silence and a young vibrant girl, who is inquisitive and optimistic, yet has her own inner voice that needs to be heard.”

Speaking further about how the filmmaking industry can be upgraded in the region, Brown remarks, “The way we've made this film without funding and how everybody got involved driven purely by their craft and passion, sets an example for other filmmakers in the region. It is up to us to join forces and use our creativity in a collaborative environment to build the industry here. I think there are lots of beautiful stories that can be told here and that UAE, with its talent, expertise and brilliant locations has the potential to be the next happening thing in the international film scene.”

The role of the protagonist Killian is played by Casey Shannon. Shannon feels extremely honored to be a part of Brown’s vision, “’Louder’ has really changed the movie making game in the region. With such diverse cast, it’s a brilliant thing to see happen, and hopefully ‘Louder’ will be the start of a wonderful snowball effect for actors and filmmakers. I really hope that people will enjoy the movie and get to see the hard work and wonderful locations UAE has to offer and the amazing stream of talent out here.”
The movie is slated to make its premiere in Dubai on Friday, 28th September 2018. “We hope to secure international distribution to theatre chains and then release it online to VOD channels as well,” says Brown, with a twinkle in his eye!
It seems like a must watch movie. We all have forgotten to heed to our innermost voices in hustle of modern life.
